TODO list (cleared 16.3.)
A todo list with oustanding issues. Basically a follow-up tool for Michael.
Michael (16.3): I habe deleted in this list the tasks already accomplished as the list got a little bit complex ... :-)
I hope I did not delete anything which was important for you. However the old list is still existing.
Urgent issues
Attach files to articlesMichael, create files as child objects of articles
Michael: OK. I understand how it works. The display of the files seems to me not very practical, see my example here .
-
- The link within the title makes no sense to me as no addtional information is displayed afterwards (the description line is already displayed in the "teaser view"). The only "problem" I can see if it is deleted is that I can access the object afterwards only via the admin interface not the via the web editor interface because of the missing link there is no way to get to the edit button (I have this problem already if there is no text in the body of an article - or is there a way I haven't discovered yet?) [1]
- It will take a lot of space to display several documents. A list of 10 documents would be very confusing I fear. Is there a way of having the three elements (title, description and upload) displayed much closer and enlarge the space to the next element? (At the moment they do not seem to form one unit: Where does the first object ends and where does the next one starts is not easy to detect at first sight. [1]
- It should be feasible to have several documents uploaded in one " (to take two examples: E.g. two or more interrelated documents or e.g. several language versions). Is this feasible? [x]
- There is a line where I can choose between three languages. However I can't see the difference in the display. What is the function? [1]
- Is it possible to attach the same document in several languages? [x]
- Possibility to give a name to the uploaded documents. Currently only the name of the document is displayed. If I attach several documents it might be difficult to just identify a document by its original name. Is there a possibility? [x]
- Can I use documents I already uploaded? I didn't see this function. [x]
- not yet done:
? top - Pictures: Positioning, click to enlarge Where exactly? Can you give examples?,, Michael: It's more a general feature I thought is more or less standard in modern CMS (I kew it e.g. from Typo3). It should be feasible to have a small picture and if you click on it it will expand (an example for a homemade solution see e.g. our old homepage: http://www.seeurope-network.org/homepages/seeurope/countries/cross-borderaspects.html)
description line - remove top bottom margins from images
- Compare tool: NIR (
basic functionality, nice layout: Kristof: +- but the XML block text of the introductions in the different country classes need to be filled in with style in mind: no extra empty paragraphs, no full paragraphs in bold ) - feature boxes: enable/disable this with a check box in article/folder to allow for wide content (tables)
- Michael (14.3): Can you make the "Pre-title" line (in grey) also appear in the teaser-view (like this I can use for e.g. to fill-in the author of an article) [1]
Hopefully) small issues (added by Michael)
- Article: The author and publishing date is displayed in the right menu box. What is the idea of this? Paul: The idea is simply to have something there, so I took author and publish dates to fill up the otherwise empty space / Michael (15.3): Can you disable this functionality again (at least for the normal users it makes no sense). Thanks.

- Country facts: The left column (sections) and the right (numbers/text) seem not to be in the same line (see especially the line "Dominant / principle level of collective bargaining". There should also be more space between the columns (they almost "touch" each other)Kristof: Again this is an issue that arises with the XML block attribute. Text will be put into a paragraph, which has top and bottom margins. A possible fix is using the first-child and last-child selectors to eliminate respectively top- and bottom-margin, but IE 6 does not support these CSS selectors. A possible cross-browser solution is to use a CSS class for the first paragraph, called "first", and set the required margin properties with a selector on that class. Country Fact Fields (please adjust the capitals also like they are here)::
- Population (please change formatting of number: e.g. 35,145,000)
!- Union Density Rate (to be deleted)
- Proportion of employees in unions (in %)
- Principal Level of Collective Bargaining (delete "dominant", spelling mistake in principal)
!- NEW: Collective Bargaining Coverage (in %)
- Board-level Representation
- Company Board Structure -
Country fields (please adjust the capitals like it is here):
- Country Facts (capital F)
- Trade Unions (capital U)
- Board-level Representation (captal R)
- European-level Representation (capital R + delete (EWC/SE)
! Limit central column (space) COMPARATIVE TOOL
- Missing: Company Board Structure + Delete: Union Density Rate + Trade Unions (add s)
- Order of the topics displayed according to the structure of the section- Population
- Proportion of ...
- Company Board Structure (now missing!!!)
- Trade Unions
- Collective Bargaining
- etc
! DISPLAY: Only 4 countries in one row (6 are OK)
! The "more" button to display the full text of a section in a new window are still missing. [2]
! The "source" field (select) is only available in some of the sections. It is missing at Trade Unions. Please also extract the word "source" - I will insert it manually. This has the advantage that I can use the line for multiple purposes (can you add it to the normal article/folder field, too?) and sometimes it is "sources" (if it is more than 1 source). Please make the layout more decent (light grey, not bold) [1]
- Countries (starting page): Display of all countries on 1 page not only the first ten countries [1]

Bugs/Problems
- Michael 16.3.: The subpage is displayed in the left menu and there is no TOC in the right column: http://etui.ezsol.be/national_industrial_relations/countries/belgium/board_level_representation/board_level_participation_subpage_1 [1]
- Michael: The articles I post in the countries section "Documents" (e.g. Austria) are not displayed. At other locations they are normally displayed - I suppose the folder is a specific one (is there a reason fo this?) They are displayed when I am looking (paul)
- !! Michael: If I want to use the article functionality "Insert object - Related objects - Add exisiting" - Only the first ten (e.g. within the countries section) are displayed and clickable to choose to be related. Is that correct? [1]
- New bugs (April):
- when copypasting the sign ' (e.g. workers' involvement) gets translated into "workers' involvement". The problem is that evenif I change it back the strange signs reappear afterwards.
- The internal hyperlinks on the basis of anchors seem not to work properly (see Links section)
- Why is the "Enter" between two lines not transferred into the view perspective albeit it is displayed in the backend (EZ does not recognise the "Enter" between the lines but simply deletes them): http://etui.ezsol.be/european_company/history (I copypasted the text from the "editor", that means without any format!)
Less urgent issues
- Table: Sorting by different columns [1]
- Downloads in several languages (indicated by flag) [1]
- Flags indicating if a site / a text is available in several languages [2]
- Pictures: picture galleries [2]
- feature box "What’s new": Automatically generated, Archive, Main topics indicated (EWC, SE etc?), Date in grey [1]
- Integration of multimedia elements (audio, mpeg?) [2]
Michael: There should be a field to insert a date of the news entry (very light grey, decent - as we don't now how many news there will be). One of the ideas was to always indicate in a field to which section the news belongs (EWC, SE, National Industrial Relations etc). However, I could also insert this manually at the beginning: Example: EWC - New publication on the functining of European Works Councils) [2]
Sitemap- Search (always visible) , Keyword-Search [1]
- Contact field (Send us an e-mail) [1]
- PDF and Print [1] [2]
- Newsletter [2]
- Compare tool: SE [2]
- Network area: Member list, posting of documents, email notification, document archive [1, low priority]
- “Utilities” in global layout [?] [1]
Michael: This refers to the menu items not displayed in the top and left navigation (currently there is Login, Register and Sitemap). I would want to have there : Home, Contact, Newsletter, Sitemap (under European Company / About SEEurope / there should be an additional field called "SEEurope member login" (access to the password protected website). I think we might need the "register" button to subscribe for the Newsletter - Is this correct?
- Transfer of data from www.seeurope-network.org (upload of data stored, ca. 200 MB) (
transferred from link provided, uploaded to new site) - Allow folder to optionally display children in columns (like the country overview list of flags) [1]
- Large tables must scroll and not clipped [1]
Nice to have
- Font Colours
- Colour of links (normal, touch, already visited) [1 & 2: clean-up]
- Pull-Down? [2]
To clarify
- feature boxes: embedding of information from elsewhere in the site (typically folders) [d]
Further points to discuss
- E-Mail-addresses [2]
- Workflow management, other editors with limited rights [2]
- “impressum” / disclaimer [1: stub]
