28 January 2011 was the last day for a consultation initiated by DG Internal Market & Services on disclosure of non-financial information by companies. This consultation provided an opportunity for trade unions and other organizations to speak out in favor of requiring companies to provide information on a range of employment, social and environmental impacts on a regular basis.

The consultation followed a series of workshops in late 2009 and early 2010 organized by the European Commission with different stakeholder groups. The goal of these workshops was to find out what kind of non-financial information companies are providing and what kind of non-financial information is needed by stakeholders. Summarizes of these workshops as well as relevant documents can be found under: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/sustainable-business/corporate-social-responsibility/reporting-disclosure/swedish-presidency/index_en.htm
